Important Weather Message from National Grid (Wednesday, November 5th)National Grid is preparing for a forecast that calls for gusty winds beginning this afternoon and lasting into Thursday, November 6th. Forecasts indicate the storm may have widespread impact, including across Central New York, the North Country, and the Mohawk Valley.

No parking on town roads from November 1st – April 1st, between midnight and 8am.No parking on town roads from November 1st – April 1st, between midnight and 8am. Any vehicle parked during those hours will be towed to allow for plowing to continue. For violations residents can contact the sheriff during those hours for the situation to be handled.
All basketball hoops need to be off and away from the road. The Town is not responsible for fixing or repairing if they are hit by a plow.
Please put trash cans and recycling bins in driveways and not in the road.
Mailboxes: Only 4x4 wooden posts and metal boxes will be replaced. Please contact the highway department if hit by a snowplow. Plastic or any other type will be temporarily fixed or a temp will be placed but it will be the residents responsibility to fix in the spring. |

Zoning Board of Appeals Notice - November 10, 2025ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS HEARING, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Zoning Board of Appeals of the Town of Clay, New York on November 10, 2025, will hold a pre-agenda meeting at 5:30 P.M. in the Jury Room, followed by the Regular Meeting, public hearings beginning at 6:00 P.M., at the Clay Town Hall, 4401 State Route 31, Clay, New York, on the following matters: Case #1990 – Northside Baptist Church, 7965 Oswego Road, Tax Map #080.-01-02.1. The applicant is seeking Area Variance pursuant to Section 230-13 A.(4) – Lot and Structure Dimensional Requirements; to reduce the rear yard minimum setback from 50 feet to 25 feet to allow for an expansion of the existing Church facility. The project also includes new landscaping and lighting, revisions to recreational fields, and additional parking. The proposal received a no position with comment referral from the Onondaga County Planning Board. The property location is in the RA-100 Residential Agricultural Zoning District. 2026 PRELIMINARY BUDGET MESSAGE2026 PRELIMINARY BUDGET MESSAGE The Preliminary Budget for general and highway purposes totals $20.3 million. As proposed, the tax rate for Town residents will increase 1.51% or $1.05 per thousand of assessed value. This is $5.66 for a home valued at $225,000. Total spending is $1.9 million greater or 4.47% over the adopted budget for 2025. The increase is due to necessary contractual expenditures including a roof for the Highway Garage, additions to the Planning Dept., Road Paving and a significant increase in New York State Retirement. The Town is continuing its effort to provide preventative road repair as a more efficient method for maintaining roads. The 2026 budget includes a total appropriation for paving of $2.5 million. The Town has been and will continue to be proactive in securing grant funding for various projects throughout Clay. Some of the upcoming grants include:
